BanditSim Lockheed L-1011 TriStar - Working Cockpit (WIP) - Image 1

    Description

    THIS PROJECT NEEDS YOUR HELP

If you are willing to help with modeling, texturing and systems, we encourage you to join the BanditSim discord. We are friendly people! Link in the main folder when downloaded (txt file)

Here's the BanditSim L1011 paired with the asobo 747 cockpit with custom tristar style textures.

Modernized l1011s with glass cockpits where planed for the RAF and the curved windshield with the angled glareshield do look somewhat similar between the two so it's not that far off.

I also added 9 new liveries and a blank one. I've never done liveries before so don't expect 4k

The project is opensource and is available on github (link in the download, with a cockpit aswell).

I am pleased to announce that the project is ALIVE :D you can find more details about it on the github including the Discord link!(Say hi ! He's a great guy and deserves the praise) Thanks so much to Banditsim for resuming work on this very promissing project. Thank you to Ingmebs and uli057 for offering their help as well. And thank you to everybody who downloaded, commented and provided feedback and words of encouragement ! The hype and overall positive responce got this project back on track :)

Credits go to BanditSim for the plane and asobo for the cockpit

Special thanks to kevin.widjaja21 for modifying the 747 cockpit to remove the 4th throttle lever along with the engine fuel control and fire retardant knob and disabling related buttons.

To install, unzip the rar and select the "banditsin-aircraft-lockheed-l1011" folder inside the main folder and drop it in the community folder. You will need to remove the previous version if you have it.

If you have the 260 caracter too long path issue, try moving the rar directly in the community folder and extract it there. move the aircraft folder from inside back to the community folder and delete the main folder and rar left behind, works for me every time.

For those of you who want proper sounds, I recommend the HJG sounds for free (move the sound.cfg into the sound folder) copy the sound folder and replace the one in the tristar, then update the layout.json and you should be good. This mod is not salty compatible at the moment.

    Happy flying!

thanks mate, this version might not work anymore, but the original is getting better and I'm still involved in it :) albeit with what little I can contribute, mainly blueprints and feedback on the modeling

Hi Charlott210. Thanks for trying. I've been trying too, disabling the sound etc. but nothing I've tried helps. The original version on GitHub works fine, but as you say, the Flight deck is very basic - no pedestal etc. I'm sure somebody will find a solution before too long. I just wish people would read the full description before leaving poor reviews and limited stars.

Can you not just roll back this update to the previous version? The plane had a few issues with the cockpit lighting but it fully worked from cold start... I figured out that you can get it to start simply by setting any or all of the de icing switches to auto while having the engines spooling up. It triggers the plane to start the engines to spool all the way to the operating rpms. The last version before upday v1.9 did not have the freezing issue. If you can please roll back the version to that, apply any small changes you made in v1.9, test it to see if the freezing comes back and if not apply it here as v1.9.1 or simply v1.8B. I really cant believe that i deleted the last working version of this plane without making sure that after a couple flights it worked properly. The weird issue is for about 3 days it flew fine then randomly for no reason the freezing issue started I kind of thing its a change Microsoft made to the game in a recent update that is causing the issue. I PREY YOU READ THIS, HAVE THE PREVIOUS CORRECTLY OPERATING VERSION, AND BE WILLING TO ROLL IT BACK OR SIMPLY CREATE A NEW UPLOAD FOR THE CORRECTLY WORKING VERSION SINCE I SEEN ON THE DISCORD SERVER IT WAS GIVING YOU A ERROR OR SOMETHING... I ABSOLUTELY MISS THIS PLANE IT IS MY FAVORITE. I AM SORRY THAT YOU ARE SO FRUSTRATED, DISAPPOINTED, SAD, AND ANGRY ALL OF THE EMOTIONS CAUSEED BY HARDLY ANYONE PUTTING IN EFFORT TO HELP YOU. I JUST WANT TO SAY THOUGH IN THE BASIC USER ASPECT OF THAT IS, THESE ARE REGULAR PEOPLE, WITH MANY VARIOUS DIFFERENT SKILLS IN A LARGE VARIETY OF DIFFERENT JOB TYPES THAT IS MANUAL LABOR OR SOMETHING THAT DOESNT REQUIRE CODING FOR A GAME, REMEMBER MICROSFT MADE THIS GAME WITH HIGHLY TRAINED, EXPERIENCED, YEARS OF PRACTICE AND FULL TIME CODING, MODELING, THE DEEP TECHNICAL SUFF, ETC AND US REGULAR PEOPLE HAVE NOT EVEN A SINGLE CLUE ON HOW TO MAKE A ASSET FOR MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR.

Thanks Pete for the comment, I appreciate it

DankNoodles, I agree with your points obviously but I'm not angry, woulnd't feel so strongly about a free mod where nothing is owed to anyone. What surprises me is that we have devs working on the same planes again and again when there's already competition for those. And ofcourse you're gonna develop stuff that you want, but I know there's tristar lovers out there...sadly I don't have the previous version anymore but it wouln't change a thing, this is a SU12 issue. That being said, the original L-1011 is flyable if just for fun or screenshots. And depending on your trafic settings it will pop up in airports from time to time

I may be able to help, I found a fully functional and modelled Mcdonnel Douglas MD-11. Can you work with that cockpit into this lockheed model? That should solve all the issues no?

oh wow, i'm surprised it's not on the site here :o who's the dev? could you dm me more info on that?

there's only so much I can do and I could not figure it out. And my description was upfront about what this mod was trying to accomplish...I'm tired of getting low ratings for trying to help out. You have the original one in the discord anyway

    D

Sir from what I am seeing, your motevation seems more of ratings than pure love for the aircraft, goal of finally solving a nasty little bug that is casuing the freezing issues, cockpit lighting issues, and etc. I honestly believe at the beginning of this adventure you truly did have the love in your heart, as you got the original plane with barely a cockpit whatsoever, fully integrated the model of another planes cockpit, got all of the essential needed functionality, switches, knobsm buttonsm and systems working that is need to even get the planes engines spooling, full start, have the fuel system up, the APU working, everything definitely requires for 100 flight operations. You got some of the not truly flight essential systems added but does go along side flying the plane and landing system. Point is you made so much progress and did all of it by yourself. That is definitely something to be EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOURSELF over. Even more so if you had a person or two, even a whole team at the planes disposal working along side of each other. You haven't given yourself enough credit for just how far you have brought this 'LEFT4DEAD' addon iconic aircraft into a very functionally usable state. i say it is very nice and that you did amazing work, i thank you so much as its one of my favorite plans, when I get my life in order after a couple paychecks i even wanted to donate money to you for appreciation. i took a different path in my life and cannot on my own understand how to make addons for MSFS and even just code the files or simply place the files in folders named specific. I couldnt even tell how to place the files in the correct folder structure.

Now though its clearly visible it seems the need/want of approval/want/need for ratings to be high and make the overall rating max or as close to max as possible. I understand the anger and frustration of getting low ratings due to the reasons like we see happen, people not understanding of how to use the plane properly, what the systems do, how they operate, which switches are required for the systems that are implemented and what the switches are meant/actually do of the working said systems. People dont do or even attempt research before hand, they find a bug, or maybe their copy of the sim is borked or something wrong with their own computer. I agree people don't do proper thing and leave bad ratings but alot of people do understand everything, have a heart, and do understand the work required going into it and leave a higher rating. I know bad ratings due to people not reading the description that 5which has text informing of the update being a attempted improvement but failed and caused a massive issue causing the plane to become in operative until the next fix patch is released. People don't read that or anything ever, leave bad rating, so what though. Lot of people do read and follow proper conduct code and operate within reason as a healthy balanced human being. You just have to have faith, do the searching for people to help you and approach them. Yes you can sit there waiting and hope that the request for anyone with coding and or modeling skills on hand and wants to join the cause to help get the plane out of a alpha build at least, You have to remember this buddy through everything and all the frustration, time spent diagnosing bugs, coding features in, tweaking things to get the plane to perform in game as close to the real life version. All of it you must keep your eye on the finished product end goal, your dream, and fight through it and at your lowest point then get up and keep going. that makes your goal and the project when it actually gets finished makes it all that better and yourself all that more happy and ecstatic over it.

PLEASE DON"T GIVE UP, KEEP UP THE GOOD HARD WORK, I AND ALOT MORE of the users who follow this project are rooting for you!

I missed that message hence my delayed response. To be honest, while the ratings matter to me in general, I didn't expect any from this mod as it's not my original work. When I say "matter", I mean it loosly...it's not like there's money on the line, it just puts a smile on your face knowing that you made somebody's simming experience a bit better. I wanted to contribute what little I could to give back for the countless freewares I got over the years. 95 percent of this is Banditsim and asobo's work, all I did was merge the two together relying on what I knew from fsx. Very easy task that requires just editing one or two lines of a handfull of config files. That was my only skill along with some basic temporary liveries. That being said, I will take credit for advertising this project and relaunching interest in it. I'n not at all savvy with all of of that, but I did what I could in my spare time, purely out of love for classic aviation and aviation in general.

I appreciate the kind words though, and am happy to tell you the project seems to be picking up again thanks to banditsim and the popular demand for this masterpeace. So thank you very much for the interest, everybody who downloaded the plane helped keep this project alive by keeping the dev's motivation high
