PMDG has unveiled its Boeing 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator in a two minute trailer revealed in a YouTube Premier on PMDG’s YouTube channel. The video provides an glimpse into the building blocks of this highly anticipated Microsoft Flight Simulator extension.
According to the video details, PMDG intends to introduce the Boeing 777 to Microsoft Flight Simulator with full fidelity. The launch will commence with the Boeing 777-300ER, followed by the 777-200ER, 777-200LR, and the 777F in later releases. The video showcases the first complete images of the 777 cockpit, highlighting the modeling effort invested in critical components like the landing gear. Unlike the PMDG 777 for Prepar3D, the Microsoft Flight Simulator variant will use the PMDG UFT instead of an integrated EFB, as discussed in earlier development updates.
The PMDG 777 for Microsoft Flight Simulator is also set to introduce several PMDG-exclusive features to the simulation. These encompass a comprehensive aircraft maintenance tracker, a remodeled aircraft management system, and an updated flight tablet. As hinted at in the video, the aircraft management controls that were previously integrated into the FMC have now been relocated to the UFT. Unfortunately, due to constraints with the current version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, a taxi camera will not be included.
PMDG has not yet disclosed a specific release window for the 777, with the teaser indicating that the product was "coming soon". However, it was revealed that the release is expected to take place between 2 weeks and 2 months, assuming all goes according to plan. As for the price, while no exact details have been divulged, it was hinted that the cost would be roughly in line with the 737 series for Microsoft Flight Simulator. One variant, much like the 737-600, will be priced lower than the others.
PMDG has confirmed that the 777 line-up will expand to include the 777-200ER, 777-200LR, and the 777F. Each of these aircraft will feature accurate cockpit, engine, and flight models, reflecting the high standards that PMDG is renowned for. PMDG also confirmed that improvements made to the 777 line of products would be reflected in updates to the 737 series. This includes a functional tablet device for Xbox users and other enhancements to ensure a seamless flight simulation experience. In another video, PMDG has answered Frequently Asked Questions regarding the reveal.
The unveiling of PMDG's Boeing 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator has undoubtedly stirred excitement within the flight simulation community. The upcoming release holds the promise of a significant enhancement to the simulation experience.
