Description
Is an airport located in Caxias do Sul, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is the second busiest airport in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, being the best option for tourists visiting the tourist region of Serra Gaúcha, notably the tourist resorts of the Region of Hortênsias (municipalities of Gramado, Canela, Cambará do Sul, Nova Petrópolis and São Francisco de Paula), of the region of Vale dos Vinhedos (municipalities of Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi and Monte Belo do Sul), the Caminhos da Colônia Tourist Route (municipalities of Caxias do Sul and Flores da Cunha), in addition to the Aparados da Serra National Park due to its short distance from both.
It is classified in the Airplane Plan of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (PARGS), as a National Airport, serving more than 34 municipalities in the Serra do Estado region. Currently, it connects Caxias do Sul to São Paulo daily through Gol Linhas Aéreas operating Boeing 737-700 aircraft, Azul Linhas Aéreas operating Embraer 190/195 aircraft to Campinas.
The Flight Protection System is equipped with sophisticated equipment that allows visual and instrument operations, day and night, in adverse weather conditions.
