Fokker F.VIIa/1m CH-157
Geschichte / History
The Fokker F.VIIa with serial no. 5054, equipped with a 420 hp Bristol engine, was registered in Switzerland on 11.04.1927 in Switzerland with the registration number CH-157 and operated by Balair. The aircraft was built by the Fokker N.V. Nederlandsche Vliegtuigfabriek for CHF 90,000.
In 1931, the authorities ordered Ad Astra-Aero and Balair to merge to form SWISSAIR. From 26.03.1931 The CH-157 was therefore the only aircraft of this type in the newly founded SWISSAIR fleet.
In October 1934, the nationality code was changed to HB-LBO in accordance with an international agreement. In 1938 the passenger capacity was increased from 8 to 10 seats. In 1939, a new, more powerful engine was installed once again (first change in 1933) and the aircraft was withdrawn from regular passenger service. Until 1950, the HB-LBO was only used for used for training purposes and sightseeing flights.
From 1966, the F.VIIa was restored by the Swissair Fokker team. The HB-LBO has been since 1972 as part of the exhibition at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.
