Inaugurated in 2002, the Strépy-Thieu funicular lift allows ships to cross a height difference of approximately 75m between the Scheldt basin and the Meuse basin.
It was, until 2016, the largest lift in the world before being overtaken by the boat lift of the Three Gorges Dam.
