This is a set of flight plans for the Dornier Do X flying boat's historic transatlantic voyage from 1930-1932. They are based on the route map and descriptions in the book "Dornier Do X: The Story of Charles Dornier's Legendary Flying Boat", by Volker A Behr (ISBN: 978-0-7643-4476-3).

Four flight plans are provided; a full route, and one each for the trips in 1930, 1931, and 1932. Because the simulator lacks seaplane bases for most of the destinations, all of the destinations in the current set of flight plans are land airports. You will need to scout out each destination for a suitable place to set down in the water. If an add-on becomes available with seaplane landings for all of the destinations, I'll create another set of flight plans with the seaplane bases, as I did with the Latecoere 631 plans.

A Brief History of the Dornier Do X Transatlantic Flight

The journey began in November 1930, leaving from Friedrichshafen and stopping in the Netherlands, England, France, Spain and Portugal. While in Portugal, the plane was damaged in a fire and the journey was delayed for six weeks while repairs were made.

The Do X then continued its journey along the western coast of Africa to Cape Verde, experiencing several more accidents and delays. It crossed the Atlantic Ocean and landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June of 1931. The flight continued along the Atlantic coast of South America with a variety of stops, then across the Caribbean to the USA, finally reaching New York in August 1931.

The return to Germany was again delayed by needed repairs. The Do X departed from New York in May 1932, flying via Newfoundland, the Azores, Spain, and England, and arriving at Berlin on 24th May 1932.
