Avianca Colombia, known simply as Avianca, is a major Colombian airline and one of the oldest continuously operating airlines in the world. Here is some information about Avianca Colombia:
History: Avianca was founded in 1919 as SCADTA (Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transporte Aéreo). It was the first commercial airline in the Americas and the second in the world to receive a commercial license. In 1940, it officially changed its name to Avianca.
Ownership: Avianca Holdings S.A. is the parent company that owns several airlines operating under the Avianca brand, including Avianca Colombia. However, as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Avianca Holdings had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States due to financial difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hubs and Destinations: Avianca Colombia's main hub is El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. It operates domestic and international flights to destinations across the Americas, Europe, and some parts of Asia.
