F-20A Hammerhead a Tigershark homage drawing on design styling from YF-23, SR-71 and F-35 - the jet is tiny compared to it's contemporaries, but that's by design: Lower RCS and harder to spot visually.
Microsoft announced they're going to update to MSFS 2024, so I simply don't have the time to finish the the mod the way I want. So I'm releasing what I have now for free so people can at least have some fun with the jet. And then I'll probably transition to making an updated F-20A Hammerhead for MSFS 2024 once that releases :) Think of it as a type of early access - I'll try and keep the 2020 jet updated :)
A few notes, tips and tricks:
The jet will shut down the engine if you pull the throttle all the way back ( past the idle stop ) - that's realistic - but annoying ;) You can start the engine by pressing CTRL and E - even in flight ( if you accidentally shut it down ), - you don't need to turn on the battery, APU and ignition in the cockpit, they're just there for show ( the jet is basically a revamp of the F/A-18, but I couldn't get the start up to work properly since the Hammerhead is a 1 engine bird, but! CTRL and E works like a charm, even though it's cheating a bit ).
There's a lot of vibration around 800 knots / 1482 kph / 921 mph
Nosewheel steering is a little wonky, if you turn it off - it stays off :S - so rather have it and be careful on the pedals, then not have it.
To install a community jet in MSFS you need to go to your Users/ your name /AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Flight Simulator/Packages/Community folder and drop the "witus-f-20a-hammerhead" folder from the drive link there. When you load of MSFS next time it should be selectable in your hangar :)
The landing gear ( and flaps if you use them for take off ) will jam in place if you retract them beyond its safe operating speeds ( 150 - 190 knots ) , so if you take off in afterburner, make sure you retract it immediately. Same when putting landing gear and flaps down, they will not operate at high speed, so slow down ( 150 knots ca. with aoa similar to approach )
About the design:
The jet is a thought experiment between me and Lt. Col. Thibaut from the Royal Danish Air Force - a super small jet with some stealth capabilities ( most of the downloadable configurations in this download are types of "beast mode" so very un-stealthy - this is a slick version however ) I wrote a post about it last year, if you're interested in the details you can investigate it here:
