One of the greatest strength of MSFS is the ability we have to go anywhere on Earth but remote areas are often poorly rendered...
To give a little bit of life to some of this interesting but undetailed areas I started to create some real local airstrip in funny places to fly.
The second one is FYMT Kerweder airstrip in Namibia near the touristic area of Sossusvlei.
Sossuvlei is a dried ancient lake surrounded by some of the highest red sand dunes in the world. It's a part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
The name "Sossusvlei" is of mixed origin and roughly means "dead-end marsh". Vlei is the Afrikaans word for "marsh", while "sossus" is Nama for "no return" or "dead end". Sossusvlei owes this name to the fact that it is an endorheic drainage basin for the ephemeral Tsauchab River.
I detailed the airstrip but also reworked the vegetation around and added some "things to see" such as animals, car parks, campers, etc.
I advice to use the vastly used objects libraries such as Mikeat or Beekay to get all the features.
I also advice to use:
- the Geluck airtrsip FYMS I also made. Please download it here: https://flightsim.to/file/25278/namibia-geluck-airstrip-fyms
- the Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge FYSL I also made. Please download it here: https://flightsim.to/file/25282/namibia-sossusvlei-mountain-lodge-fysl
- the Wolwedans airstrip FYWD I also made. Please download it here: https://flightsim.to/file/25287/namibia-wolwedans-airstrip-fywd
Installation:
Uncompress archive and drop the content in your community folder.
NB:
If you have the Daher kodiak addon you can use this livery by GeeBeeAero: https://fr.flightsim.to/file/25554/daher-kodiak-v5-dgw-namib-safari
Thank you very much! Just flew there and that was great!
