About this file

Monument Valley, Arizona-Utah border V3.0 (USA World Update)
V3.0 Updates:
The scenery has been modified to blend into the newly released USA World Update.
Unfortunately the USA Update scenery cannot be removed, or flattened as it forms part of the BGL file for the whole of the new USA POI's, so I have blended the Butte's that clash the best I can.
However, you have two options on how you would like the scenery to be represented:

Option 1 -  This scenery blended into the World Update (All Butte's)
  • Install all three files included in the zip folder (monumentvalley, monumentvalleyvc, & monumentvalleytiles) into your community folder.
Option 2 - The New USA World scenery butte's along with my extended scenery
  • Install only monumentvalleytiles file into your community folder
I have also removed the photogrammetry building "The View" Hotel after feedback about it's quality at ground level. It is now back to the default autogen building. I hope to come back at some point and make a high quality custom model of this hotel.

*You may experience longer sim loading times with this scenery. I would suggest to move the files out of your Community Folder, and only move them back in when you intend to fly in the Monument Valley area.*

V2.0 Updates:
Scenery has been expanded and the textures have been colour corrected to better blend with the original ground textures.
This is Monument Valley scenery with a high level of detail.
Most of the famous sandstone buttes are included and were present in films like Back to the Future (Part3) & Forrest Gump.
V1.0:
  • West Mitten Butte
  • East Mitten Butte
  • Merrick Butte
  • Sentinel Mesa
  • Big Indian
  • Stagecoach
  • Brighams Tomb
V2.0:
  • Visitor Center
  • Eagle Mesa
  • Setting Hen
  • Mitchell Butte
  • Mitchell Mesa
  • Gray Whiskers Butte
  • Three Sisters
  • Wetherill Mesa
  • Ear of Wind
  • Big Hogan
  • Suns Eye
  • The Flying Eagle
  • Totem Pole & Yei Bi Chei
  • Artist's Point
  • The Thumb
  • Camel Butte
  • Spearhead Mesa
To view the scenery, takeoff from Monument Valley Airport (UT25) and fly to the East.
**Installation:**
IMPORTANT:  Open "Monument_Valley_V2.0.zip" and within this folder extract the THREE files "monumentvalley" "monumentvalleyvc" & "monumentvalleytiles" to your Community Folder.

    Thanks Jepp!
The screenshots are only as good as the scenery they are portraying. ;) The scenery is my go to when I get the chance to showcase the app for friends who have no idea how far flightsim has come over the decades.
Have dents on my wood floor created by dropping jaws from folks seeing your scenery on my 55inch 4k TV/monitor. I hand new friends a paper towel when the come to view the sim and your scenery....when they ask what this is for...I say "just wait"....then when they drool on my floor, they get it. :)
Oh...and if you ever want to use any of my screens in your ads for release...please feel free...and/or contact me and I'll send the direct links to them if you can't pull them from Avsim.

Is there a way to open "modelLIB.bgl" file and remove the POI of monument valley?

This scenery contains modellib.bgl which conflicts as per Asobo's recommendations. See the section here on CTD's being caused by scenery and how to fix it. Could you fix it please? https://flightsim.to/blog/creators-guide-fix-ctd-issues-on-your-scenery

As reported here in the link I gave, the scenery designer has to change the files.

    Could you please fix yours?

    Thanks!

    Excellent job sir,
I have a request. Is there anyway to colorize the bleed through rock on the mittens north and the buttes. or place a color layer over them. that the only thing I could see that looked weird. Also is the Mexican Hat rock captured. I looked around for it.

Thanks. Glad you are enjoying the update. I will try and improve the colour more in future updates, and also hope to expand the scenery even further.
The Mexican Hat Rock is about 22 miles away from Monument Valley so isn't included.

Yes, yours is very better than the update. Microsoft one looks like some artificial rocks you put in the bottom of an aquarium. Don't blend at all with the environment. Even the colours... And sometimes looks like plastic stones. Shame for Microsoft, we need erase those fake monuments !

Thanks! I was looking forward to seeing this with the USA update but it does not cover much of the area unfortunately. Anyway I am going to take a look and see if I can blend my original scenery into the updated scenery.

A TEMPORARY FIX for those who (like myself) who were saddened at the way the "USA Update" ruined this scenery is to temporarily remove the entire "microsoft-usa-point-of-interest" folder out of the "Official>OneStore" folder and everything works as before. No MSFS boot errors, elevation discontinuities, or other anomalies. This will of course remove all 50+ other POI's that came with the USA update, but they're easily restored by putting that folder back and rebooting the sim.
