Hi, The newest version crashes my MSFS2024 during the first loading screen after i press ''PLAY'' within STEAM, also it crashes when i use ''MSFS2024 Map Enhancement''. I still give you 5 starts because this addon is fantastic, but please fix this if possible :-) P.s: I also tried to start with all my addons removed from the Community folder, same problem.

The newest version of this glider makes my sim crash in every single flight I try to do. The stall speed is at around 65 kph. A real discus would be in a fully developed spin at that point. The thermal simulation is worse than in the versions before. I first flew this glider in 2022, it was a free download on flightsim.to that time. The thermal simulation was extremely realistic, the physics were amazing. Now, we have great sounds and many different settings, such as a tow plane launch. The tow plane launch does only work at some airfields. Furthermore, the amount of rudder input you need to get that yaw string straight, would simply kill yourself in the real thing (near to the ground). I m surprised by how much this glider has advanced, but also how much it has deteriorated.

Best gliding experience I've had in any simulator with this glider and downloadable weather presets. The attention to detail is amazing. Every feature is useful for gliding. Works great in VR. This one goes down in the history books of gliding simulation and I was flying the original DiscusX by Aerosoft for FSX so I have some experience.

Just upgraded to 2.0.6. On the previous version I used recorded flights from Kinetic Assistance to tow up the glider. Even when pushing the sim-card I cannot find that option any more. I really need that because I want to do some training with real towing routes. I might have to downgrade if it's not possible with 2.0.6 Thanks to the support that was clarified. So changed to five stars. !

Hallo - habe mir heute Discus 2 Premium gekauft, installiert und ausprobiert - bin begeistert!!! Würde mir aber wünschen, dass Gear und Trimmung mit MSFS zugeordneten Tasten oder Schaltern gesteuert werden können oder dass es Hotkeys gibt, wie ja einige im Manual angeführt sind!

Exceptional! Have been ridge soaring in the eastern Sierra for two hours in VR.. Totally lost track of time! Amazing experience.. I think MS does an ok job with ridge and upslope lift, but thermal lift seems pretty random.

Did the same, 1.5 h ridge soaring on the south island of NZ. Simply amazing. Agree on that thermals seem pretty much random, but ridge up and downdrafts are very well modelled.

Thanks to Got Friends for a superlative flying experience. This baby has all the bells and whistles, and in combination with the included weather presets, I have had a rollicking good time riding thermals around Reno NV, Pray MT, Palm Springs CA, and wherever there are mountains. The sensation this craft provides is really incomparable. This is by far the best sailplane experience I have had in flight simulator. One of the best add-ons ever. Nice work!!!

We're thrilled you're having an awesome experience with the glider Dubnewt! I had a blast testing in hotter climates like CA and NV. One of the most fun flights I did was departing Catalina island and gliding over to LA just by hopping from under cloud to cloud. There is a good bit of water to cross without an engine so it makes for an exciting experience. Worth a try sometime if you havn't yet done so! Cheers, - Dev Mykrode

Beautiful adaption, great flying experience, immersive and realistic performance. Bizarre: the magnetic compass turns the wrong way round and also has a reversed scale. when the plane turns left, the compass should remain north oriented with the needle moving to the right, but moves left as well. :-) It's more irritating than you might think.

If this wasn't fixed in 2.0.4 already I'll have Jonx take a look at it for the next round of updates! Not sure how we missed this one on release. Thanks for the feedback! For the time being, you could opt to hide the compass by hitting the compass circuit breaker (bottom center console).

Thanks for your reply. In fact it is NOT fixed in 2.0.4. :) BTW, I found another one: If you pause the actual flight, the simulation of certain flight parameters, speed for example, are not being paused. So, if the plane accelerated BEFORE pausing, it will continue accelerating when paused until it cracks.... this one is even stranger. ;)

First of all I am not a glider pilot in reality nor a pilot of anything. I used to enjoy flying with FS2004 despite the lack of realism, but now with your Discus-2C it's completely crazy. Of course Condor is there too but much more expensive and graphically behind MSFS. Thank you very much for this beautiful bird. I wish you good luck for the future.

Absolutely amazing glider, flying this thing in VR takes me back to my glider training and I hope to go back and get my license in the near future. Beautiful model, amazing flight characteristics and system functionality is quite extensive. This is one of the best modules I own and I own quite a few between MFS2020 and DCS! On top that the developers fully support this premium upgrade with frequent updates, honestly a steal at $15.00. Thanks for offering this :)

Since the recent update I have a bug,I can fly ok once but any subsequent flights most of the instruments fail.Even quitting the sim and then restarting won't cure it,I would have to reboot the pc.Other than that,a brilliant experience with the premium version...............................................

This is a lot of fun and definitely worth $15 (the freeware gives you a great experience as well minus mostly visual things + the FES). I didn't actually try the FES variant yet (the payware will give you a variant with and without FES, I think I will prefer without). Cockpit looks great and great visibility for VFR in this beautiful sim. Finding thermals is really fun (you can opt to have them show visually or not with kinetic assistant). Kinetic assistant will get real-world data and place thermals in your game. Makes VFR flights really interesting to seek out thermals. Being able to winch tow and tow plane etc. is really awesome and amazing they got this doable as a mod. Working variometers -- something new for me to learn with the mccready ring. A few small issues I noticed: This is now fixed :D I've never flown anything IRL before but from what I have watched the variometer seems a bit twitchy...I know they must fluctuate a lot but still doesn't seem right to me. tow plane also seems weird and twitchy physics. I think IRL you have to maneuver in ways to not allow slack in the cable, but still seems weird in the sim -- i'm sure it's a difficult workaround to get it working as a mod, though. might be closer to RL than I thought: when landing you can keep the wings level and off the ground all the way until your speed is 0. felt unrealistic although again I have never flown IRL. From youtube seems like a wing hits the ground as you go slow, before you stop. I wish there was more documentation. The variometer instructions are copy/paste from wikipedia and hard to understand for me without any previous experience. I had to do some research to understand Netto vs total energy. Some performance numbers would be nice too, for instance: best glide speed (L/D ratio?) with different ballast weights (i had to look up what ballasts were for and how they affect best glide speed). And a bit more noob-friendly explanation on how to use McCready ring would be nice too. Ballasts release lever *does* affect the weight in the ballasts, it just simply doesn't show in the MSFS weight & balance window but it does work. releasing the ballast water has a nice visual effect but didn't seem to affect the actual weight in the ballasts. had to do that with the dial separately (or with toolbar). Overall, those are very small issues for $15 payware and I find the discus-2c very enjoyable and well worth the price.

More work on the vario is happening at the moment and will be in the next update. The launch release version was relatively smooth but had some issues with accuracy reading high. That got resolved in 2.0.1 but that caused the vario to be rather jittery visually. Still playing with the math to get it absolutely right because currently without full environmental simulation support for gliders, we're sampling multiple sources of data, put together to provide a reading. Perhaps a good opportunity to have a chat with some of our glider pilots in beta to help describe some of the instrumentation better as well. Thanks for your detailed feedback and support Snoober!

About the wing drop at slow speeds: At my old gliding club, on windy days we would turn the parked aircraft into the wind and hold a little contest who would drop the wings last - Instructors would always win. :p It's astonishing how little of a breeze is enough to hold them up. It does feel a tad late in the sim, but I'd say about 50 % of the landings in the K8 and ASK23, I'd be able to keep the wings up until after stopping. K8 has massive ailerons though too.

Finished my first flight, unique experience. Even without official support, glider is useable with live weather. FES is helpful for gliding noob like me. I would maybe welcome a little bit more information in manual f.e. how exactly use MacCready Ring. I get first set anticipated climb rate in next thermal (totally unpredictable in MSFS or I missed something?), then I'm lost with matching airspeed between thermals (If I set MC2, which airspeed should be my target? And another question, which airspeed should I target in thermal, 65 KIAS or higher or depends?

5 stars, although one small thing bothers me. I fly in VR and would like to see the pilot in the cockpit. But when I have positioned myself optimally in the cockpit, I am in the head of the virtual pilot's body. The pilot is animated and moves his head, so you see parts of the head in the picture. So my question is whether it is possible to remove the head from the virtual pilot in the cockpit?

We are using the built-in Asobo Pilot System with this glider. That way users can customize their Pilot's looks using the game settings menu. We plan on leaving it like this for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, we have zero control of those models. We are trying to add hand movement points for the next update. However, removing the entire head is not possible at this time.

Great plane, a real joy to fly! I used the Summer Soaring Preset and made my maiden flight at Sedona. That ended after 5 mins. in a crash landing, but the second flight went well: it lasted 45 mins, with thermals that carried my 3.000ft above the airport. An incredible experience, particularly in VR! It transported me back in time: I started my training to become a glider pilot at the tender age of 16…

This thing is a blast to soar in. Made it to the top of Mount Cook and cruised to the coast. Seamless integration with Kinetic Assistant and very intuitive to use if you don't like spending much time in manuals. I got the premium version because I know it's money well spent when it comes to GotFriends products.
