This is my first scenery project. Tom B. David (KCZL) located in Calhoun, Ga. The generated hangars are way to large for this airport so I took it upon myself to try and see if by using the SDK I could replace some buildings and recreate those missing. There are no custom buildings, all are built in and used to better represent what is actually there. I'm just learning to use the SDK so this is by no means a professional job, don't look to closely at alignments. Some buildings I couldn't find anything built in to represent them, such as the 17 small white single hangars near the terminal building which was also missing and bashed together just to have something there. Several hangars were added to represent the Life Flight heliport hangars and office located where the fuel is now. I don't know how to relocate it or the beacon, both of which need moved, if I can figure out how I'll update. I hope at least someone will like it compared to the generated scenery. Google Earth and Bing Maps were used as reference for the scenery so it may depict more or less than what is actually there today.Comments welcome.
Thanks and enjoy!
MAJOR UPDATE: This project has expanded beyond the airport itself. There have been some changes made and a new file uploaded "KCZL Enhanced". To install the "Enhanced" version delete the old "tbd" file from your "Community" folder and unzip the new file and place the new one into your "Community" folder. The old file will remain for anyone not wanting the extras, just the basics, this file has not changed so there is no need to do anything if you want to keep it.
WHATS NEW: Added water tanks and various tanks to several industries near the airport.
Added several cell/radio towers north of Calhoun. These are built into the SDK and aren't like what's actually there but better then no towers at all. They are also lit at night so keep an eye out for them.
Added cars, trucks to several industries.
Removed several buildings from Calhoun High School so now the track field and football field are now visible.
Added POI's for the area so if you don't like seeing POI's you might want to turn them off when you fly. Some are a bit far out so you won't see those without flying a ways away from the airport such as the dams at Carters Lake.
Fixed a huge spike that was visible from KCZL next to KRMG in Rome, Ga. I tested this using AlpineScenery's "Elevation Fixes - United States" also available on this site and have found no conflicts on my end running both this file and his at the same time.
Added the observation deck and some stairs to the airport scenery as well as a few enhancements nearby.
If you are missing anything or something just looks odd I may have used some objects from other asset collections. Sorry about that, chances are though, if you frequently download other airports and scenery you probably already have those libraries installed.
STILL TO BE DONE:
Move existing ground facilities.
Thank you for allowing me to learn how to use the SDK and for downloading this file. Please let me know your thoughts about it.
Open the zip file and drag the "tbd" folder into your "Community" folder. No files are altered or overwritten so you simply just delete the "tbd" folder if you wish to go back to the original generated scenery.

Just out of curiosity, how difficult is it to modify an airport like this? I've been thinking about doing one of these reworks for the Cartersville airport

For me it was difficult, I have a hard time understanding the SDK structure. KCZL really needs to be completely redone and started again from scratch it's so outdated and some of it is different now as work has been done.. Perhaps I'll pick it up again and give it another go so much more needs to be done here such as KDNN in Dalton and KRMG in Rome.
Cartersville would be a great addition and I encourage anyone to give it a go. Just because I find the SDK difficult to work with doesn't mean you will too, you might have a better grasp. It's not so much the placing of objects as it is the file structure, folder names and what goes where.
Look forward to seeing what you do. Keep me informed please.
Have a look at these videos by Patriot Six, I'm reviewing them myself since the SDK has changed so much since doing KCZL.
