Known Issues
General
Liveries need to be updated by the livery devs to support the new engine animations and freighter model - Or do it youself using the ReadMe
Freighter Model:
- Rivets/panels do not match default model appearance, Had to modify them to fit the new fuselage and am unable to export them in a way that makes them behave the same as the default.
- Fuselage Normals dont show correctly
- Performance issues for some users resulting in poor FPS. Unsure what's causing it but have confimred it isn't LOD related.
BBJ Model:
- Some users may experience FPS drops.
- Fictional Livery

So the answer provided the previous poster was a non answer really. Where is this mysterious "read me" file? I've seen that question here at least 3 times with no answer.

Also, are you saying that the liveries specifically for this mod exist on flightsim.to and that through randomly entering search parameters we may or may not be able to find them? Someplace else on the web? Can you or someone who's found them at least give the rest of us a hint?

Also, my discord invite keeps getting denied so no help there. Perhaps one of the 77 people that "hearted" this mod could enlighten those of us that are struggling?

Also, also, I appreciate that the HS folks do this for free but you can't get mad when your work is given a bad review for something as legitimate as a lack of answers. If you put it out there, you need to be prepared to support it whether you provide it out of the kindness of your heart or for money.

Two stars until I get a read me and can actually find liveries and test fly this beast.

absolutely no information how to find any liveries for this aircraft. Such a shame that this good finally flyable plane lacks of a simple thing "liveries". Also asked a few dude on discord without even replying to a question. So far im giving it a one star, make r stuff together and at least reply to a simple question.

EDIT: there is also no readme like is mentioned in the addon description

Solid mod, wingflex obviously needs work, but overall it functions quite well for me.

Question though, is there a way to modify the -8f so that it can actually carry more than ~43000kg of cargo and not 300+ pax? The freighter should be able to carry +130t if i remember right. That's my only real knock, unless I'm just doing something wrong lol.

While this mod makes the 747 a lot more enjoyable, it needs A LOT of work:

Cons:

-Aircraft is insanely overpowered. One engine in reverse thrust will reverse the plane easily to 20kts. On takeoff, it accelerates to V1/VR in about 8 seconds and will take off in under 1,500 feet at MGTOW. It climbs at 5,000fpm at full gross.

-Simbrief is iffy. I'll attribute this to my routes but sometimes it loads waypoints backward. I've had 50/50 odds of having to start it over and manually enter my waypoints

-The flight model is VERY light on the controls. Akin to flying the Aerosoft CRJ.

-Exterior LED lights while insanely beautiful but overly bright. Could be toned down by about 50%

-Wing flex mechanism is off. The wing is "bent" in three spots- Fuselage to the engine, engine to engine, and then engine to wingtip. It looks like a suspension bridge and is extremely noticeable when the slats are out because they're straight as a board

-Autopilot is barely functional. You have to constantly disengage and reengage the Flight Directors to "reset" it and even then you're hitting modes several times to get them to capture.

-ILS is barely useable. More like a LOC-only aircraft. Out of three flights its captured the G/S once and even then descended faster than it. It follows the FD but the FD does not follow the G/S. On two other flights APP mode wouldn't even engage.

-This aircraft is not made for turnarounds. You cannot repopulate the V1/VR/V2 speeds on the speed tape again once you program Vref for landing.

Pros:

The model is extremely gorgeous and is second to none in terms of cost to quality, but I think I'm going to try the regular Salty mod via the FBW installer over this.

From Bingoro:
Step 1:
Download your 747-8F or 747-8BBJ Livery - I love the Freighter Liveries by Death Actual, but another guy by the name of Marcioart121BR has a few more liveries available.
Step 2:
Go to the aircraft.cfg and change:
base_container = "..\SALTY_B747_8i"
to:
base_container = "..\SALTY_B747_8f"
Or for BBJ:
base_container = "..\SALTY_B747_8_BBJ"
Step 3:
Save the new aircraft.cfg

Hi, To find liveries indeed it is a bit complicated as FS TO does not provide an emplacement for our aircraft for users to post their great liveries. But that is not something we can do anything about saddly. You will just need to search from them manually. Also as you stated you went in our discord. Please note all staff are on a voluntary basis and we have no paid staff. That means that we do not guarantee a response. Most likely your messages got lost. Even more if you took the time to look at our FAQ in our discord you could have gotten your answer in a few seconds ;) I would suggest as I do with other people like you to please review your facts before posting a review like this. Is this still being worked on or has the project been abandoned?

All mods that you see on our page are being worked on. However the parts that are being worked on require a lot of back and forth between our devs and our QAs, hence why the updates not being as regular as they were in the past.

Does this version support automatically switching fuel pumps on long journeys so that the engines do not overflow?

That wasn't part of the Salty version that we have pulled with our last update to this mod at least not as far as I remember.

We will see if that's a feature that we can implement at some point, however first things first we need to make sure that the mod is completely separated from Salty in the first place and that there's no interference between the two (if there's any)

Hi, maybe im stupid, but how do i change from 747-8i to 747-8F in the CDU ? or is it just the airframe that changes ?

Within the MSFS UI you should have three different aircraft appearing.

747-8I, 747-8F, and a 747-8 BBJ. In order to use the freighter variant you need to load that from the UI within MSFS and start your flight with that. :)
