Repaint of payware Red Wing L-1049G Super Constellation.
This repaint shows U.S. Air Force Lockheed VC-121E Super Constellation 53-7885, c/n 4151. The aircraft had been ordered by the U.S. Navy as the R7V-1 BuNo 131650 and was diverted during construction to conversion as a presidential aircraft. It was President Eisenhower's personal airplane between 1954 and 1961. Mrs. Eisenhower christened it "Columbine III" in honor of the official flower of Colorado, her adopted home state, in ceremonies on Nov. 24, 1954. "Columbine III" served as the Presidental aircraft until President Eisenhower left office in January 1961. It remained in service transporting government officials and visiting foreign dignitaries throughout the world until it was retired in 1966. The aircraft is today on display at National Museum of the USAF.
