About the Robinson R44 Raven II Helicopter
The four-seat Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter is a high performing, reliable machine that is easy to maintain. R44s have a two-bladed rotor system, T-bar cyclic and the latest in Robinson technology including streamlined instrument panels and crashworthy bladder fuel tanks.
The R44's aerodynamic fuselage optimizes airspeed and fuel
economy. Hydraulic controls eliminate feedback forces and provide responsive handling. A low tail-rotor tip speed, newly designed muffler and large cambered tail reduce flyover noise.
Raven II helicopters are powered by Lycoming's IO-540 fuel injected
engine. The IO-540 delivers better altitude performance, increased payload and eliminates the need for carburetor heat.

just stumbled upon this project, but noticed it hasn't been updated in over a year. So am I correct in assuming it's dead at this point?

How do you turn off the red low rpm light? Thank you

I can´t get any helicopter to work in my MSFS2020. Either the heli will not appear in the hanger or even worse, MSFS freezes while loading whrn the Daherr is seen taking off from SFO.
Do I have to run AirlandFS before lauching?
ponny2oo2
Is there a way to trim this heli? I want to be able to trim the heli and give my hand a break.... I have try elevator trim, and rotor trim and it has no effect on the controls.

wishlisted til flying native on msfs helicopter physics, good luck!

I hope there will be updates, cuz his youtube is gone and he didn't got on twitter for some time...

I also noticed this. I really enjoyed RSP's videos and work he did on MSFS helis. Anyone know what happened to him?
jcallum 6 month(s) ago
He went back to his real world life. Hopefully, Fred will pick up the baton.

We hate airland
VanDisaster 4 month(s) ago
The native "physics" are rubbish compared to using airland ( or practically anything else ), so be careful what you wish for.

Today I flew a real helicopter for the first time in my life. I was lucky that the school I went to let me start in the R44. The instructor seemed almost surprised at how much I knew about the helicopter without having seen it before. I got to do the startup checklist and could manage most things on the list thanks to the RSP R44. I got to be in control for some turns and also tried to slow down and speed up the heli while compensating with collective to maintain altitude.
Then it came to the ultimate test: hovering. The instructor let me take control of the pedals first and i managed to hold and rotate the helicopter as he asked. Then he gave me the cyclic and let go.
The helicopter was stable, I could not believe that he actually let go of the controls but I was holding a stable hover on my first try. He finally gave me control of the collective and asked me to set the helicopter down on the ground after which I got to pick it up myself and once again I managed to hold it stable while going into a hover.
Finally the instructor asked if I wanted to taxi the helicopter back to the hangar (something I think not everyone is allowed to do since there are more objects nearby) it went well but I was off the spot he pointed out by about a meter or two but overall I am very proud of my first lesson.
I could never have done what I did if it wasn’t for all the training I did on the R44 in flight simulator. Thank you so much for making this mod, it is my favourite helicopter to fly in the game and clearly very close to the real thing!

With what controls did you train? Maxflightstick R44?
240Snusn 9 month(s) ago
I used a virpil collective, cyclic and pedals. The cyclic was extended. Also flew in VR.
Oeleboele 9 month(s) ago
So training with not the typical robinsoncyclic did not bother you having great results in your first real flight? I bought these hope to have results in my testlesson next month. https://www.maxflightstick.com/collections/rotor-wing-systems/products/r22-44-2022

I didn't really think about it when I was flying. Maybe your controls would work better but I think it is not that important

Yes this is a common problem with this helicopter. The advice is to disable g-effects in the menu and some have blamed this on Asobo. However this doesn't happen at all with other helicopters such as the Bell 47 or Cabri G2, so I suspect its more of an addon issue. Hopefully it will be addressed at some point in the future.

Thx for the advice!

Is this project dead? I know Rotor Sim Pilot said that someone else will take over but there were no updates ever since (almost half a year now).
White_Wolf 10 month(s) ago
There is talk of ongoing development over on the discord channel, but no indication of when an update might be released. Hopefully before November.

Please update the camera.cfg file, all the hat views, and CTRL view keys, are set for the back seat...

I love so much this helicopter, you can't imagine. My favorite one and with the sound pack, WOUAH, like a real one. Thanks a lot.
roket52 11 month(s) ago
Hey mate, just wondering which sound pack you are refering to? Is is the one included in the download?? I installed FS Realistic which has added some cool sounds to my experience
aviateur 11 month(s) ago
Type R44 in the search bar and you'll get it. It's a mod.
White_Wolf 11 month(s) ago
Isn't this sound pack already included. See changelog beta 1.1.

@ rotorsimpilot,
Don't forget to update the version number in the manifest.json file.
Here it shows version number 1.2.8, but shows 0.1.0 in the manifest.
Excellent heli...thank you.

I have all the helicopters for msfs and this by far is the best handling, most fun to fly one of thr bunch. My go to for sure. I love exploring and getting super close to points of interest that yoy simply can't do with an airplane.

Good job
Pagey69
This is my go to rotor at the moment. It's small, agile and running at 90% on FS, great fun for those "hand brake" turns! Convincing flight model without too much rudder kick when transitioning from stationary. Thank you guys!

Such a great add on! a joy to fly 😍😍😍
