KTME - Houston Executive Airport
Houston Executive Airport is a General Aviation Airport about 28 miles west of Downtown Houston, TX. It's primary focus is Private jet traffic and small GA aircraft. I found this airport while testing out a scenery by a flying club member at nearby Hooks airport. I flew one last leg from Hooks to land at Houston Exec at night and when arriving at the airport I couldn't find it since there wasn't a single light on the field. No Runway lights, taxi lights nor any light of any kind. I quickly changed the time of day and found that the only thing modeled here by default is the runway and tower; it also suffered from flat building syndrome. This mod aims to fix that.
Changes:
- Addition of lighting: Runway lights added per A/FD as of August 2021. Taxiway lights also hand placed near real world locations based on satellite images. Night lighting was also added to ramp areas
- Taxiways renamed to match Taxiway diagram as of August 2021. Taxiway signage also added.
- Generic hangars added to real world locations based on satellite images. Some static planes were added as well
- Parking positions updated to match real world markings
- Canopy added (see notes below)

Additional Notes:
I am not happy with the canopy. It turns out that the generic hangar I used with the intent of being the canopy, while it is clear through the hangar it appears to have invisible walls. This meant that you couldn't taxi through the hangar as I had hoped. Since I don't yet know how to create custom objects which would make a canopy that you can taxi through, I found an alternate solution. I raised up the existing structure and added some posts to appear to be holding up the generic hangar object. Since it is now suspended in the air, you now can taxi underneath the shelter. This is a total kludge and I know it, but I couldn't find any existing object that would allow users to taxi through. I tested the height of the suspended hangar, and I was able to taxi up to a the tail height of the default Citation Longitude as that would be about the biggest plane that could legitimately use the hangar. This airport is not intended for airliner traffic so I did not send an airliner through it as it would be unrealistic. I know this solution is pretty ugly, but if someone would make a scenery object for the canopy, I would gladly insert it into the scenery.

Wow! Excellent work. I just landed at your airport today, arriving in a Bonanza from Chicago for the MLB AL Division Series. I did stop over in Tulsa on the way.
One note: I am not contacting ATIS (119.525) when your KTME addon is loaded. I have tried three times after rebooting and going back and forth to the default KTME. That is the published frequency and it works for the default.
Amazing how MSFS would arrive with a significant GA airport lacking its buildings. I have found a handful of these, most notably for me KESN, my local GA airport here in Maryland. Another person has created it as well and made it available here on TO.

Thanks for your update! I will check on the ATIS issue and see if I can find something. I agree with you that the flat hangar syndrome is pretty sad. There have been numerous airports locally for me in MN that have it pretty bad.

Great work! Would it be possible to add a few POIs to this area? Most notably are the following warehouses: Amazon, Rooms To Go, Costco, and Igloo?

Good question - I haven't ever added POI's before. I will take a look to see how hard it is so I make no promises for this! Not being from the area it will be a learning opportunity to find the places mentioned.

Thank you, I posted the original request because I was hoping for the canopy, that is the essence of the airport.

I made my own version a long time ago, but without the canopy its the same situation. Thank you for your efforts, I will have a faceoff between the two!

I agree - the canopy is the best part. I do wish I had the time to invest to figure out how to make it, but time is in short supply for me right now.
