The live weather conditions prevent you from flying, you don't like fiddling with the settings and the presets are getting old? Random-VMC is made for you, as a tool to automatically create random weather presets suitable for VFR / GA flights.

Since the SDK doesn't allow interaction with the weather yet, this is in my humble opinion the next best thing, despite some frustrating limitations. The winds should be light and the visibility good enough to rely on visual navigation and enjoy the scenery. The ceiling should be high enough as long as you don't plan on landing on a much higher altitude airport.

There are 4 types of weather for now:

  • Snow: Winter in temperate regions or anytime beyond the Arctic or Antartic circle.
  • Cold: Autumn or spring in temperate regions. Don't expect to see blue skies, you will often get many clouds with this preset.
  • Summer: Warmer weather with usually calmer winds and few clouds. Overcast skies can still happen.
  • Tropics: Usually hot and damp. Better suited for jungle than deserts.

Neither the program nor the presets go into the Community folder. You should run Random-VMC while the simulator is closed as unfortunately MSFS only seems to load the presets when it starts.

It's licensed under the GPLv3 License and the source code is available on github ( https://github.com/fwisard/Random-VMC )

Feel free to suggest any feature you'd like, keeping in mind that I want this software to remain uncluttered and easy to use.
